New Jersey-born Joey Vitello is a versatile, accomplished musician who has evolved into one of the most respected players in the New York metropolitan area.
A lifelong drummer, Joey began honing his percussive skills at age 4 by banging on pots and pans until his parents were convinced that a drum set and formal lessons were in order. He studied and practiced extensively during his grammar and high school years, performing with local bands at every opportunity.
Joey knew full well at an early age that his passion for music would drive him to pursue a career as a professional, and he prepared himself by experiencing as many styles of music as he could—jazz, swing, country, funk, R&B—in addition to straight-ahead rock-and-roll. This diverse repertoire has served him well, as he has performed regularly in the area club circuit in addition to appearing with such national acts as Jim Yester and Terry Kirkman of The Association, and behind numerous country music legends as the house drummer for the New Jersey Country Music Association. He is also a top-notch studio player, having worked on countless recordings.
Joey is currently performing throughout the United States with the world's longest running tribute band, The B-Street Band, featuring the music of Bruce Springsteen and others. In addition, he is a proficient instructor who maintains a roster of over 40 students with skill levels ranging from beginner to advanced.
One thing is certain—if you have seen him play, you won't forget him. Joey pours his heart and soul into every performance, and never lets down an audience.
